Mastery Window

/ˈmæstəri ˈwɪndoʊ/ The golden hour of learning.
Definition The strategic period, typically 6-18 months after a major model release, when individual investment in learning is highest-leverage. During this window, the model's capabilities are fixed (Cathedral Clock has stopped), but societal best practices are fluid (Bazaar Clock is early). Individuals who master the tools during this window establish "Skill Alpha." Before this window, the tools are too unstable; after it, they are commodified.

Strategic Timing

Don't be the first to adopt (you will be debugging the system for free). Don't be the last (you will be competing with standardized playbooks). Be in the second wave, where the "Capability-Mastery Gap" is closing but not closed.

Field Notes & Ephemera

Field Note: The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The best time to learn prompt engineering is six months after the model dropped.
