Platform terms of service confirm that data is collected. AI training disclosures confirm that content is used for model development. The glass box is real, and users know it.

The behavioral consequence is predictable from basic psychology. When people know they are observed, they modify their behavior toward what they believe the observer expects or finds acceptable. Jeremy Bentham's panopticon worked not because every prisoner was actually watched at all times, but because no prisoner could know when they were not being watched. The uncertainty of observation produced the conformity of permanent observation.

The most direct consequence is migration to private spaces — the Dark Forest of encrypted messaging, private group chats, and invitation-only communities. The Quiet Web is partly constituted by Glass-Box refugees.
