Metaphor Trap

/ˈmɛt.ə.fɔːr træp/ Linguistic Limitation
Definition The cognitive error of using outdated analogues to explain new technologies, thereby limiting our ability to understand or imagine their true potential. Examples include "The Cloud" (which obscures the physical reality of server farms) or "The Desktop" (which limits our spatial imagination of digital work).

Old Maps for New Worlds

We use metaphors like "folders," "files," and "pages" to make the digital world familiar. But these metaphors are traps. They constrain our thinking to the limitations of paper and physical offices. A folder can only be in one drawer; a digital object should be able to exist in multiple contexts simultaneously.

Escaping the Trap

Myceloom proposes new metaphors—organic, ecological, and spatial—to break free from the Epistemic Crisis. We move from "Clouds" to Mycelium, from "Files" to Archaeobytes, and from "Users" to Stewards.
